HARRISON MIXBUS V2 WINDOWS
Anyone have any luck getting and VST or AU plugins to work on MixBuss in Windows 7? I haven't tried yet, again, trying to fish for some tips before setting off on a fools errand. What routing audio from Reaper into MixBuss, live, in real time, using JACK? Anyone tried that on Windows? I've read that can be done, but maybe it was only on OSX/Linux.Ĥ. (Their WebSite is not very clear about Reaper->MixBuss).ģ. Anyone tried "AATranslater", a program for going from ProTools into other things, etc.? Could it be used for going from Reaper files to Harrison MixBuss? That would be super-fab, and worth its $59 cost, if I didn't have to stem-render, export, import, etc. Any tips on Stem rendering for such a task? I figured it out roughly last night, but was having volume issues, and had to re-name everything.Ģ. Hence I'm wondering who else is doing this, and if they have any tips.ġ. SO, my question is - I don't want to leave Reaper (been using it over 6 years now), so my current thinking is to do all of the original recording, VSTi overdubs, editing, prep work, plug-in massaging, in Reaper, and then only when that is finished do the final mixing with MixBuss. Definitely helped me with my ADD type issues, anyway. Want to change the tone? Move the EQ knob, then go on to your next decision while you are listening to the music.

No windows jumping around, no functions hiding behind other windows, etc. REALLY enjoyed the old-school feel of mixing with all the EQ, Reverb and Compressor choices right at your fingertips (evoked old muscle memory). After a learning curve stumble, within a few hours I was up and running. Thus, Harrison MixBuss seemed like a good intermediate step between all that Reaper can do, and OTB mixing. Hurts my 50 year old brain, then I lose the muse). I finally pulled the plug and bought the MixBuss on sale (until March 22), since I've been thinking about going back to OTB mixing (Why would I do that? I need to finish up an album worth of material that's been lingering for over a year, yet I can' seem to "finalize" - paralysis by analysis, too many plugin options. Use it as a final mixing stage for Reaper generated files? How best to Transfer files? Stem render and import, or link them, etc? That's all I'm saying.Any suggestions/tips/tricks on how best to use Harrison MixBuss with Reaper. IMO dongles can be better than some systems. But it does rely on some trust of their users. So again I'm not asking Harrison to change. Once they're authorized the just work too.
HARRISON MIXBUS V2 LICENSE
Go back to my Mac Pro? Simply move the USB dongles.Īnd I do have some plugs that use a license system like Harrison. They worked every time I booted into any OS.

But it caused me to just authorize a USB stick and be done with it.

HARRISON MIXBUS V2 PRO
Never mind my Mac Pro was my main machine. At least not until I booted back into the authorized OS, de-authorize, reboot into desired OS, and authorize that OS. But if I forgot to send my licenses from one OS back to the cloud, and then rebooted into another OS, I couldn't use my waves plugs. But I was recently testing a laptop I was triple booting. And fwiw I do have a spare ilok and zdt.Īnd just for reference I was using waves cloud to authorize my computers. And I doubt ilok goes anywhere anytime soon. But I do prefer ilok to some other options. Not sure what would happen if some dongle might break and possibly some company involved would stop to exist. It's painless.Īnd if my backups don't break I'll still have them in 10 or 20 years. Just make a backup of you licenses and copy them all to the new system. Just point out there's advantages and problems with both systems.Ĭurrently there is absolutely no need to deauthorize anything with Mixbus. Is it perfect? No.Īnd I'm not trying to suggest Harrison change. As of now I have an ilok for most things and a USB stick for waves and a few others. If you can't boot it that can be problematic also. So, if you still have the old system, you have to fire it up and deauthorize it. Especially when you realize you forgot to deauthorize something. It's bad enough having to reinstall all your plugs to a new system, but then having to reauthorize them too.
